Feeling Exhausted? It's Time to Set Boundaries

Feeling Exhausted? It's Time to Set Boundaries (and Be Kind to Yourself!)

Feeling burnt out? You're not alone. Many of us over 50 experience exhaustion and burnout at some point.

But here's the good news: even small changes can make a big difference

The key is balance

While your mind might be pushing for more productivity, your body needs rest and restoration.

Setting boundaries isn't selfish - it's essential for long-term success.

HOW TO GET STARTED:

Identify Your Boundaries:

  • What activities leave you feeling drained? Is it working late, constant family or responsibilities, or taking on too much at work?

  • Communicate Assertively:

Practice saying "no" with confidence and respect.

Work Through Your "No's":

Sometimes, setting boundaries brings up guilt or discomfort

Explore those feelings and develop strategies to manage them.

Change takes time.

  • Remember self-compassion - be kind to yourself throughout the process (and always for good mental health!)

If you need a gentle nudge in the right direction, my coaching sessions combine focused encouragement with practical tools to help you build resilience and achieve your goals.

If you're ready to start setting healthy boundaries and prioritize your well-being

Menopause: you're not alone

Menopause: you're not alone

Menopause is a natural phase of life that can bring a range of physical and emotional changes. While it's a universal experience, it can often feel isolating.

  • Feeling Overwhelmed?

If you're feeling overwhelmed, under pressure, or lost in the maze of hormonal changes, know that you're not alone. Many women experience similar feelings.

  • Connecting with Others

Connecting with other women who are going through similar experiences can be incredibly helpful. Online communities and support groups offer a safe space to share your feelings and learn from others. In-person groups can also provide valuable support and friendship.

  • The Power of Support

Having someone to listen, offer advice, or simply be there for you can make a significant difference. Whether it's a friend, family member, therapist, or life coach, a supportive relationship can help you navigate the challenges of menopause.

  • A New Chapter

Menopause can be a time of personal growth and transformation. It's an opportunity to rediscover yourself and welcome in a new chapter in life. By focusing on self-care, building strong relationships, and seeking support when needed, you can navigate this phase with grace and resilience.

Remember, you're not alone. There are many resources available to help you through this time. Don't hesitate to reach out for support and embrace this new chapter in your life.

To give you peace

To give you peace

It's mid November and a rose had tried to bloom, just before this morning's frost....

The moon is full and hazy and sits low as it marries it's partner the sun fading in the West - the blackbird knows it will be dark soon....

The leaves are crispy at the top of the layer, but mushy below as I gather them - lovely for next year's mulch....

The rhythm of the seasons stabilises our existences - it just happens, it's there, waiting to be found....

to give you peace

Happy sparrows in October

flit back and forth from tree to tree

joyously in the sunlight

ready to nibble at the seeds

as they dance in the air

The gift of gratitude

The gift of gratitude

I am minded of a small act of kindness, gently performed, such grace and patience and, behind that, principled love - a carer who gave dignity and honoured the life of my Dad while he was in his last years of a long and eventful life.

She listened as he told his tales of high seas, high adventure - "New York, New York" just after the war!

Did she know about what happened in Singapore?

And I stood on the other side of the bedroom door, amazed at the ease with which he told his story to a woman the same age as me, yet had never related to my ears...from then I started to ask the right questions, and in 2 wonderful years from his 95th year, I found out who my father really was - and it was such a gift.

I wonder at it even now.

What have you learned to be grateful for? Is there anyone in your life who has opened up a new way to communicate with someone who matters to you?
